Benefiting…

The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund provides financial assistance and quality of life solutions for Marines, Sailors and other military personnel assigned to Marine Forces, injured in post 9-11 combat, training, or with life threatening illnesses, and their families. The fund provides relief for immediate financial needs that arise during hospitalization and recovery as well as perpetuating needs such as home modifications, customized transportation and specialized equipment.

ReserveAid is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to providing financial support to the families of Reserve Service Members from all services, who have been called to active duty and are experiencing financial difficulty. Our goal is to alleviate the emotional and financial burdens placed on the men and women called to serve our country by supporting their families at home.

PLEASE READ THE LETTER BELOW FROM MAJOR JIMMY J. WILSON, DISTRICT INJURED SUPPORT COORDINATOR-SOUTH TEXAS, WOUNDED WARRIOR REGIMENT

Hey guys,

Most of you know that Becky and I have been training for this half marathon on June 13th.  It is going to be located in Los Colinas here in the DFW Metroplex.  I work with the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund on a daily basis.  They have contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars in direct support of my cases and continue to be my number one source of Aid for my Wounded Warriors.  Not once have they turned down someone in need.  I feel it is my duty to give back to those that have given so much and it is my honor to do that through the Semper Fi Fund.

As I tell my story to my friends, co-workers, and family about my job description and how I am responsible for Wounded Warrior Transition and Injured Support, everyone asks, “How can I help? “  Click on this link and you can make a tax deductible contribution directly to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.  http://www.active.com/donate/woundedwarriorhalf/jjwilson

I know the economy is down, I know times are tough, I know it hurts to reach into the pocket book!  But, I promise you the guys who are receiving these grants are having tough times also, and by the way most of them are doing it while dealing with PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injuries, depression, loss of loved one who failed to support them in this difficult time, paralysis, memory loss, aggressive behavior disorder, mood swings, sensitivity to light, balance issues, readjustment, self medication…. and why?  BECAUSE THEY SERVED YOU AND YOUR COUNTRY!

If you are unable to contribute financially, please take the time to go to http://www.active.com/donate/woundedwarriorhalf and click on the link “Become a Fundraiser.”  Send it to everyone in your email address book.  I bet if you don’t have a family member that has served, you have know someone that does.  Think of them and think of that solider, sailor, airmen or Marine that is forward deployed DEFENDING OUR FREEDOM!

I have set a very modest goal of raising $5000, we already have $2000 towards that goal, that means that if 150 people contribute $20 we will reach our goal.  That is less than taking your family out for pizza, skipping Starbucks one a week for the month, deciding to pass on that new shirt, watching the game at home instead of going out to the bar, or many other luxuries’ that our Marines are giving up while they are away from their families protecting yours!

I would also like to remind everyone that www.reserveaid.org will also receive a portion of the contributions from this race.  It is my intent to run this race every year and next year we intend to run on behalf of Reserve Aid.  If our local Marines would prefer to donate to Reserve Aid, they may access it directly through www.reserveaid.org and click on the Donate Now tab.  If they would like to reference this race information they may make a note of it on the comments section of the follow on tab once they donate or they may mail directly to:
